In this painting she rises from a cosmos of violet and lavender, wings spread wide against a sky of aurora light and stardust, her gold-foiled beak catching the last of a dying star. The world behind her swirls in purple and blue — ancient, luminous, already aware of what she is.

Below, a genuine metal zipper creates the illusion of the world peeling back — frozen at the moment of reveal — deep magenta and purple built up in layers beneath the seam, genuine purple glass catching the light at the threshold, the world you know giving way to reveal what she has always been.
