Fine art print produced in-studio on 300gsm heavyweight fine art paper using Epson’s premium ink system. Each print is made one sheet at a time and inspected before it leaves. Ships flat in a rigid protective mailer.

She is being made. The left wing is raw cosmic matter — warm gold light, stardust, the universe weaving her into existence from pure energy. The right wing is what she is becoming: fully realized, jeweled, iridescent in blue and teal, the eye-spots catching the light with the authority of something that has always known its own form. She is not emerging from dissolution. She is arriving. The soul — psyche, the Greek word for both butterfly and soul — coming into being.

Note: the original carries hand-applied gold metal foil in the eye-spots of the right wing — the first place the new form declared itself with certainty — a surface quality unique to the original work. As one of two new paintings created specifically to complete the Animarii series, this print holds particular significance. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.

This print is part of Animarii, a 12-piece series of original oil paintings on professional watercolor sheet by British-Californian artist Rebecca Papillon.

The printed image measures 12x18 inches, presented on a 13x19 inch sheet of 300gsm heavyweight fine art paper with a half-inch border on all four sides.

The open edition carries a digital signature embedded within the image in the lower right corner. The limited edition is hand signed by the artist in pencil below the image in the white border, and individually numbered from the edition of 50. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Framing guidance
This print frames beautifully in any standard frame with a 12x18 inch mat aperture. We recommend UV-filtering conservation glass or acrylic to protect the print over time — ask your framer for conservation glass or Museum Glass. Do not hang in direct sunlight — avoid placement opposite south- or west-facing windows and skylights.
